Isabelle's First Tasting

Isabelle is a little shy of the six month mark, but since Liam, they now say to try solids around four to six months so we tried some yummy rice cereal. She wasn't too keen on it, but was curious. Baby steps with the solids, but we are okay with that. It was a nice dinner with everyone eating and staying at the table for once. The house was in chaos on the other hand. It's a balancing act--either the house is perfect and we have a mediocre dinner on the table, or I make an amazing dinner and the house is a wreck. Parenting/being a wife is all about trade offs these days, but the trade off was good tonight-minus the Thomas the Train, gears, wind-up toy, teddy bear pattern cards, number flashcards, beach ball, car garage tornado in the living room and the nice spill in the dining room. At least I was able to do most the dishes as I was going, so the kitchen is pretty good. You can't have it all! :)But I do have the cutest children in the world and the best hubby ever. So maybe I do have it all!

Dearest Isabelle,
So, now you have started solid foods! With a curious look, and then that beautiful big smile it appears that you will learn to eat solids, and lucky you, your Mom is a fantastic cook. Wait until you taste her goodies :-)
The collection of train tracks looks like a lot of fun, Liam. And I love the way you wanted to clean up the spill....but don't forget that Daddy can help just like Mommy :-)
We love you both so very much.
See you soon :-)))
lots of love ,
Grandma O

Hello Beautiful Isabelle,

You looked so beautiful even when you had that look on your face trying to taste something different than the milk from your Mom. It is OK to have baby steps towards solid food, but you will discover lots of good and delicious food that your Mom will prepare for you - carrots, spinach, sweet peas, green beans, broccoli, cauliflower, sweet potato besides the rice cereal that you now have.

And please tell your Mom not to worry about her house looks like a wreck. There are only toys to keep your brother and you happy while she prepares dinner for the whole family. They can be picked up and stored away in a flash with brother Liam's help.

Love to you and your brother Liam,
Grandma R
