O'Briens

O'Briens
A twelve year journey including a very long ortho surgery residency, first year as staff, a move to Fort Irwin AKA The Moon, a move back to DC, and now finally settling for a while in the Augusta, Georgia area-this blog tells a story of a boy and a girl leaving NYC, both switching careers, joining the Army, starting our family, loving, losing, living... Buckle up, this life of ours is bumpy, but full of love and lots of adventure.

August Photos

So it there a condition for the second child syndrome? You know, the lack of pictures to mark every millisecond of her life? The absence of a schedule, because as much I try to convince myself, we all know that Liam's schedule is not really Isabelle's schedule. The empty scrapbook that sits next to her brother's overflowing one on the shelf in the living room? UGH! I have vowed to do a better job at this. Poor Isabelle will never know what it is like to have every second devoted to her solely, but I am trying to make it up to her. For now, here are some photos of just Isabelle. She is four months, three weeks and five days old today. Or twenty-one weeks and one day in mommy talk. Don't ask me how many minutes and seconds--a mom of two can only handle so much math!

Dearest Isabelle,
You are a bright and engaging little girl. You bring light and even more life into the O'Brien home in Washington. With your sweet nature, engaging smile and rapid progress in development, you light up the lives of your grandparents too(all 4 of them :-).
lots and lots of love Grandma O

Dear Beautiful Isabelle,

Grandma O is right - 2 sets of grandparents are so very proud of you! You indeed brought much more joy and happiness to our family. You and your brother Liam, and of course, your cousins Mailee and Suzanne are the beaming lights in our lives.

Grandpa R and I feel so much more energetic each day just to think of you two and your cousin Mailee. All of you will meet again soon as this year's holidays are approaching faster than you think.

Much love to you and your brother Liam,

Grandma R
