A twelve year journey including a very long ortho surgery residency, first year as staff, a move to Fort Irwin AKA The Moon, a move back to DC, and now finally settling for a while in the Augusta, Georgia area-this blog tells a story of a boy and a girl leaving NYC, both switching careers, joining the Army, starting our family, loving, losing, living... Buckle up, this life of ours is bumpy, but full of love and lots of adventure.

Happy Birthday, Liam!

Liam has had about a week of celebrating his birthday and he is so much fun with it. From singing "Happy Birthday to Liam" to himself to playing with his friends, it is fun watching him turn three and actually understand what a birthday is and what a special day it is to all of us. I also love that almost all of his presents are still unopened in the living room and that he found being with friends and family present enough.

Happy Birthday, sweet boy. You and your sister are our dreams come true and with each day we fall more in love with each of you.

Dearest Liam,

I know you had a terrific time at your birthday party. You enjoyed having lots of friends, birthday cupcakes with gears, light bulbs, and wheels on them. Your Mom was so thoughtful in having them made especially just for you since you have been so fascinated with lights and fans. You now know birthday party is a special event to have friends gathering around you and singing happy birthday to "Liam" and you are supposed to blow out the candles. For the game, you were the first who tried to break the pinata with a baseball bat. To see you looked so happy and pleased made us so satisfied.

May you have another wonderful year ahead with new experiences in pre-school and more fun in learning in God's love and protection.

Love you more and more each day,
Grandma R
