The DC Clan Takes Callian

Fred and I haven't been to visit Mark, Delphine and Suzanne since I was pregnant with Liam. That is way too long and of course Baby Anatole was the perfect excuse to sneak away, even for just five days. So we set off on a whirlwind vaca with the two kiddos in tow for la cote d'azur. The red-eye from Dulles to Nice via London couldn't have been more perfect. The kids slept and the giraffe backpack on rollers was packed full of lots of games and goodies to keep Liam busy, even in line for customs. What a great idea from Aunt Cee Cee.

The Château de Camiole Resort & Spa was beautiful and so affordable. We're not sure if it because it is off season or what, but we got a steal on hotels.com and were pleasantly surprised on how lovely the place was. We were at Mark and Del's most of the time, but it was nice to come home to and wake up in such a lovely surrounding. We will definitely stay there again the next time we go.

Baby Anatole is such a cutie and is a mini-Mark, which is adorable considering that Suzanne is a mini-Delphine and just as sweet and gorgeous as ever. It tickles me even more since Liam had cloned into a mini-Fred too, so we were watching all these mini-mes playing so wonderfully. It just warmed the heart. Suzanne and Liam played all day, but when it really came down to it, Suzanne was so into Izzy and Liam was so into Baby Anatole. It was hilarious!

Mark and Del had so many fun things planned for the kids. They took us to Fayence to an airport that specializes in launching gliders. Liam thought it was the coolest thing ever and still talks about it. We also went to Frejus to hit the beach and then to a wonderful play area. And then lunch at the Bellevue was delicious and the fountain was the highlight of Liam's day. Izzy just smiled, took everything in and loved being with everyone. It was difficult saying goodbye and the kids made it even more challenging. Suzanne was in tears and Liam said on Tuesday morning, "let's go back to France." I am hoping that it is very, very soon that we can hop back on that plane and see everyone again.

Dear Liam and Isabelle,
What a joy to see the pictures of the trip that you took with Mom and Dad to France, to meet Anatole, and see Suzanne, Uncle Mark and Aunt Delphine again. I scrolled through all the photos, and must admit that there were tears of joy as I saw the fun that all eight of you had together. We all know that family is the most important thing for each of us, and you are fortunate to have your Mom, Dad, cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents who love you and enjoy seeing you grow and experience life. Imagine, you have been to Europe for the first time, and I am sure you will have many more opportunities to travel and see the wonderful world in which we live. Both Grandpa O and I are delighted that you have these opportunities. We are grateful to have you in our lives, as well as Suzanne and Anatole. What a Blessing from God you are :-)
much love Grandma O
