August is a month that is so dear to my heart. It is the month which celebrates my guys birthdays. My dear Fred turned 36 on August 14, John turned 31 on August 19 (not sure if I was allowed to mention that as I am not sure if being 30-something is cool), Dad turned 71 on August 22, and my little buddy boy turns one on August 26. We had the birthday party a few days early so we would have the weekend to celebrate.
Our friends and family are all so wonderful and joined in to help us celebrate. We missed having Mark, Delphine & Suzanne, as well as Caroline, John, & Mailee-to-be, but we know they were there in spirit.

King Liam,
You seemed to have soooo much fun at your birthday party. Wow, your Mom and Grandmother R organized such a wonderful party, with lots of friends of all ages gathering to celebrate. Wasn't it fun to crawl on the grass and play with all the kids in your backyard? You looked very handsome (as usual) in your special "Birthday Boy" outfit. I loved seeing you in your party hat.
I know that you will have fun with all the wonderful new toys that you have been given. And you will be the most handsome and well dressed young man in the world !
Your Mom is right about missing the French and Seattle branches of the family...but everyone called to wish you Happy Birthday....and that helped make the party even more fun.
The Maloney's gave you a nice truck you can sit on and push. I hope that your Mom can get a video of you playing with that toy...it's really cute.
Grandpa O and I had a wonderful time with you yesterday and today...
We miss you already !
hugs, kisses and lots of love to all three of the DC O'Briens
Dear Sir Liam the Cutest,
It was a big event for a one-year old little boy Liam. You were so handsome accepting the feast with grace and enjoyed the food that your Mom and I prepared for you and the guests.
It was great to have your Dad, Mom, grandparents O and R and your Mom and Dad's friends with their kids at your birthday's celebration. Grandpa O and your Dad were the grill masters cooking hamburgers, sausages and hot dogs for everyone. We also had rotisserie chicken, potato salad, macaroni and cheese, pasta shrimp salad, veggies and chips and 7 layers dip, oranges, apples, grapes, and watermelon, and of course, a large beautifully decorated cake and cupcakes adorned with picture stickers of you at different stages. You loved chicken, cheese, watermelon, avocado, potato and yes, you really enjoyed the 1-year old birthday cake (we had a small personal cake made just for you to enjoy with your Mom, Dad, grandparents O and R in the evening just before your bedtime).
Your Mom and Dad's friends were so kind to have brought you gifts which will be opened later for you. I saw you taking your spin in your very 1st toy car that the Maloneys had given you. I am sure your Mom will help you sending thanks to all of their friends soon.
We all had fun with you on Saturday. We look forward to having many more fun days with you again really soon.
Tons of love, kisses to you.
Grandma R
