O'Briens

O'Briens
A twelve year journey including a very long ortho surgery residency, first year as staff, a move to Fort Irwin AKA The Moon, a move back to DC, and now finally settling for a while in the Augusta, Georgia area-this blog tells a story of a boy and a girl leaving NYC, both switching careers, joining the Army, starting our family, loving, losing, living... Buckle up, this life of ours is bumpy, but full of love and lots of adventure.

The French Connection

We had been counting down the days and the big event finally occurred... The Queen of France, her royal highness Suzanne and Sir Liam the Cute finally got their playdate! Suz, Delphine and Mark came over from France to visit Sir Liam (and us). Actually, the whole family was here for a mini-reunion. Mom and Dad O and Mom and Dad R were in attendance and in their glory, but Caroline and John were packing up their home for their move to Whidbey Island, WA and were with us in spirit. Suzanne and Liam hadn't seen each other since Liam was one-month-old, but they were two peas in a pod and were BFFs instantly. It was sad to see everyone go, and we wish that we lived closer to Suz and her parents so we could watch the Suz and Liam show on a daily basis. We will just have to plan a French family reunion very soon and maybe Baby Hilburn will be part of it too.

Oh, and in case you were wondering, the grownups enjoyed hanging out too. Del and I did some shopping and chatted giddily about all things mommy, the guys did some manly bonding over the yard and the grill, and the Grandmas both doted on their grandbabies. Funny how life is centered around the little ones these days.

Hi to all,
I echo Liz's comments....we had a wonderful wonderful visit with the R's, the DC O'B's and the French O'B's. Life is good with these two little ones, that's for sure.
lots of love to Sir Liam, his parents, and the Grandparents R.

Dear Sir Liam the Cutest,

It was great to see you enjoying the company of Suzanne, uncle Mark, aunt Delphine, and Grandparents O. It was fun for us too to be able to join in celebrating Suzanne and your aunt Delphine's birthdays. Your Mom and Dad were wonderful hosts as always.

We look forward to having more visits in the future as your birthday will come up sooner than you think.

Love and kisses to you,

Grandma R
